New speed limits to be enforced

(Fayetteville, N.C.) – New speed limits will be enforced on sections of Cliffdale Road, Pamalee Drive/Country Club Drive and Stoney Point Road beginning Wednesday, July 27. City Council members approved the changes during the June 13 Regular Meeting. The new speed limits are as follows:

Cliffdale Road between Raeford Road and Reilly Road, 45 mph. Current speed limit is 50 mph.

Pamalee Drive/Country Club Drive between Bragg Boulevard and Ramsey Street, 45 mph. Current speed limit is 50 mph.

Stoney Point Road between Dundle Road and the Hoke County Line, 45 mph. Current speed limit is 55 mph.

North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) officials approved municipal certificates for all the above changes. NCDOT crews will post new speed limit signs on Wednesday, July 27.

On July 25, City of Fayetteville Traffic Services crews will install temporary electronic message boards to communicate changes at Pamalee Drive/Country Club Drive. NCDOT will also be placing electronic messaging boards at Cliffdale.

These changes are being made to help make Fayetteville roads safer. The Fayetteville Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies throughout North Carolina, are patrolling the roads to ensure motorists obey speed limits. The “Speeding Wrecks Lives” campaign occurring through July 24 is a national initiative in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

As a result, the Fayetteville Police Department has stopped 160 vehicles for moving violations since the campaign started on July 18, 2022.

North Carolina General Statute 20-141determines penalties for speed violations.
