Annual Debutante Cotillion Scholarship Ball Set To Be An Experience To Remember

The 49th Debutante Cotillion & Scholarship Ball, themed “Pearls of Resilience: Elegance Unveiled,” will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Iron Mike Conference Center, Fort Liberty, NC. This annual event is presented by The Fayetteville Area Cultural & Educational Foundation (FACEF), Incorporated® , in association with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Zeta Pi Omega Chapter,

“Each year, our Debutante Cotillion Ball shines as a beacon of grace and elegance, as we celebrate a cherished tradition that honors the journey of our young women into society,” said Renarta Clanton Moyd, the chairman of the 2024 Debutante Cotillion Ball. “This 49th event is more than a glamorous evening; it is a testament to the dedication, poise, and community spirit of our four debutantes. We are very proud of these exceptional young women. Their commitment to personal growth and civic responsibility inspires us all. Together, we uphold the values of service, leadership and excellence, ensuring that the legacy of our Cotillion continues to light the path for future generations.”

The debutantes for this year include:

-Kalissa Raina Anderson, a 2024 graduate of Westover High School, is the daughter of Kristie Lessane and Derrick Anderson.
-Kyneiq Stallings Garner, a 2024 graduate of Cross Creek Early College High School, is the daughter of Andrea Garner.
-Aiva Sturdivant Reese, a 2024 graduate of Pine Forest High School, is the daughter of Antwone and Marcia Reese.
-Carrington Williams, a 2024 graduate of Cumberland International Early College High School, is the daughter of Kishia Williams Hagan.

Leading up to the Ball, the debutantes participated in comprehensive training sessions covering leadership, public speaking, etiquette, social graces, professional dress, and ballroom dancing.

About the Debutante Cotillion Ball

The Debutante Cotillion Ball, a long-standing tradition since 1956, has been a platform for young women in grades 9 through 12 to participate in cultural and educational enrichment activities through the CHEC Club. The roses and white gowns worn by the Debutantes represent deep-rooted values, hopes, and dreams. Over the years, the Cotillion Ball has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to deserving young ladies, fostering their development in character, education, and culture. Renarta Clanton Moyd serves as the committee’s chairman and Latonja Council and Dr. Mellotta Hill are the co-chairmen of the committee.

To access the venue, guests must present a military ID or pass to enter Fort Liberty. Post passes can be obtained at the main gate on the All American Freeway or online via the Fort Liberty website, starting at least 30 days before the event.
