Did you know that cancer causing chemicals are still in Fayetteville, North Carolina‘s water supply? The report says, the municipal sewer plants in the Triad are treating wastewater from “domestic or industrial sources” where the chemical is originating; the treated sewer is passing the chemical downstream in the Cape Fear. The industrial chemical, called 1,4-dioxane, is widely used in paint strippers, varnishes, dyes and even some cosmetics. It has been classified as likely to cause cancer in humans but is not yet regulated.
