There are moments when a community shows you exactly who it is. Moments when the noise fades, the world slows, and all that’s left is the quiet, powerful truth of people choosing to do good—not for applause, not for recognition, but because their hearts won’t let them do anything else.
This year’s 2025 Kindness Awards gave me one of those moments.
As a publicist, a storyteller, and a proud board member of the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County, I’ve witnessed kindness in many forms. But standing in the middle of a school hallway, watching an honoree hold back tears as their work was recognized—not on a stage, but in the space where their love lives and breathes—hit differently. It felt like seeing the soul of this community. And it was beautiful.
This is why these stories matter. Why they deserve not just to be told, but to be felt.
These honorees aren’t just helpers.
They are the heartbeat of Cumberland County.
Meet the 2025 Kindness Award Honorees
These individuals and organizations move through the world with purpose. They pour into others with the kind of generosity that doesn’t demand attention—yet commands it.
Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library, Inc.
Generations have walked through library doors and found imagination, safety, and possibility—all because of this group’s unwavering commitment to literacy, access, and joyful learning. They make knowledge feel like home.
Andrea Garner
Andrea is the kind of person who can change the temperature of a room—softly, gently, effortlessly. Her nurturing spirit has guided young people toward brighter paths, often without them realizing how deeply she’s impacted their lives.
Ashley Glenn
A veteran with a protector’s heart, Ashley carries a steady strength that makes people feel safe, seen, and respected. She leads with compassion and serves with intention.
Sweet Carolina Delights – Bobbie & Alana Johnson
A mother-daughter duo who give joy the same way they bake—with love, style, and a sprinkle of magic. They show up with treats, literacy support, and the kind of joy that stays long after they’ve left the room.
Annie P. Kelly
Decades of service. A legacy that spans generations. Annie’s dedication to families has shaped the lives of children, parents, and neighbors in ways that cannot be measured—only cherished.
Sharon Moyer
A storyteller and connector, Sharon has the gift of elevating voices that might otherwise go unheard. Her creativity brings people together, reminding us that community is built through shared stories and open hearts.
Ryu’s Taekwondo NC – Master Choung Hwan Ryu
Discipline. Confidence. Character. Master Ryu doesn’t just teach Taekwondo—he shapes young people into strong, grounded, resilient leaders.
Brittney Turner
A visionary educator who urges children to dream boldly, shine brightly, and step fully into their purpose. Her presence is a light, and her work continues to empower the next generation.
Kindness Looked Different This Year—and It Meant More Than Ever
There was no ballroom this time.
No podium.
No applause echoing off polished floors.
Instead, board members and leaders traveled directly to the honorees—walking into classrooms, businesses, libraries, and studios to deliver the recognition where the kindness itself happens.
And that made the celebration richer.
These moments were intimate. Raw. Authentic.
Kindness, honored in its natural habitat.
In each space, I felt the same thing:
Kindness isn’t something these honorees do.
It’s who they are.
And that kind of truth deserves to be amplified.
Coming Soon: The Story Behind the Kindness
Today, I’m introducing these incredible individuals to you.
But this is just the beginning.
Over the next several weeks, L3 Brand Media & PR will share exclusive, in-depth stories about each honoree. We’ll talk about what shaped them, what drives them, what keeps them grounded, and what moments changed their lives.
Not because they need the spotlight—but because the world needs their light.
