Car Explodes & Man Walks Away from Fiery 120 mph Memphis Crash

You read that right—a man is believed to have walked away from a car crash in Memphis that split his vehicle in half and set it on fire. Witnesses say the Nissan Maxima was flying down Airways Boulevard at what they estimated to be around 120 mph before losing control, slamming into a tree, and exploding.

By the time police arrived, the wreckage was unbelievable—the remains of the car propped up against a parking lot fence, the VIN number burned beyond recognition. What’s even more shocking? Witnesses say the driver crawled out of the back, hopped the fence, and took off running… with no shoes on.

“He just got out of the car and like ran,” one witness recalled. Others described him as a man in a gray shirt who hasn’t been seen since. Memphis Police are calling it a hit-and-run and are still working to find out who he is.

Owner of Yep!! Car Wash, Marshall Chism, says speeding in that industrial area isn’t uncommon, but even he was stunned the driver survived. “I was expecting body bags,” said witness Nikkarlos Neal, who watched it unfold from across the street.

The fact that anyone could walk away from a crash at that speed, in those conditions, is nothing short of unbelievable. Now, police want answers, but the driver who has to be hurt may still be on the run.
